MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN PURCHASING A FOOTBALL TABLE

With so many models to choose from, it is helpful to have an overview of the key criteria you may want to consider when selecting the football table that best meets your needs. Garlando, a quality Italian manufacturer, made their first football table back in 1954. In the 60 years that have passed since then, Garlando has grown considerably and now exports to more than 50 countries across all continents. The Garlando brand is synonymous with quality, innovation and design and it is for these reasons that Garlando is one of only five companies that partner the ITSF (International Table Sports Federation).

There is no standard size for a football table but there are some models which are particularly suited to younger children and these include the F-1 and the G-100 which both have height adjustable legs.

INDOOR

Most football tables are designed for indoor use. The cabinet is constructed from either heavy duty MDF or multi-layer plywood coated with plastic laminate.

OUTDOOR

These models are constructed from a high quality marine multi-layer plywood coated with plastic laminate. The bars are coated with triple anti-rust chromium plating and all fixings are subjected to a tropical anti-rust treatment. A waterproof cover is also supplied as standard.

CABINET
The thicker the cabinet, the more solid and robust the table will be. Indoor tables are made from MDF or multi-layer plywood with the cabinet thickness ranging from 16 to 30mm. Outdoor tables are manufactured using marine multi-layer plywood and have a cabinet thickness of either 25mm or 30mm.

RODS
Telescopic rods are an important safety consideration when selecting a football table as these prevent the rods from protruding from the opposite side of the cabinet. Rods manufactured from high resistance steel with anti-rust chromium are stronger and more durable.

BEARINGS
Steel roller bearings are used on all of Garlando’s professional tables which make play smoother and reduce wear on the rods.

PLAYERS
All of the tables in Garlando’s professional range have players which are manufactured from unbreakable plastic and these are moulded onto the bars so that they maintain their positions perfectly.

PLAYING FIELD
Most tables in the Garlando range are supplied with a plastic laminate playing field. This is an easier surface to play on than glass which is particularly smooth and fast making ball control very difficult. Some of the higher spec tables have a non-reflective sanded glass playing field which is ideal for more skilled players as it allows maximum ball control.

LEGS
Thicker legs indicate a stronger table. Most Garlando tables use either thick MDF legs with a melamine coating or metal legs with anti-scratch powder varnish.

LEG LEVELLERS
Some tables are supplied with leg levellers as standard whilst on others these can be purchased as an accessory.

ROTATING OR NON-ROTATING GOALKEEPER
This is really a matter of personal choice but all Garlando tables stocked in the UK have a fully rotating (360 degrees) goalkeeper. On tables with a non-rotating goalkeeper (180 degrees) the goalkeeping rod is positioned closer to the goal mouth which makes it easier to defend and fewer goals are scored.

GUARANTEE
Garlando guarantee most of their tables for 3 years (2 years for the F-1, F-5 and F-20).

HANDLES
Many tables are supplied with ergonomic handles whilst higher spec tables have handles with wood inserts for an improved grip.

FOLDING LEGS
Some models have legs that fold away to save storage space when the table is not in use.

COMPLIANCE
All Garlando tables comply with the European safety standard EN 71-1/2/3/9 and are suitable for children over 3 years of age.

ITSF
The Pro Champion and Master Champion have ITSF certification for tournaments and professional use.
